Solase Pickleball is a footwear brand focused on injury prevention and on-court performance. After seeing a rise in rolled ankles and hearing consistent complaints about discomfort and instability, the company set out to build a purpose-driven pickleball shoe from scratch. Instead of modifying existing sneaker molds, Solase went to the courts—surveying over 1,500 players and running extended gameplay tests across multiple prototypes.
The final design includes a mid-cut ankle collar for added support, a wider toe box to allow for natural foot movement, and reinforced toe caps and sidewalls to handle the stop-start motion common in pickleball. A layered cushioning system—including dual-density EVA foam, TPU support, and a removable insole—helps reduce fatigue during long play sessions. The outsole features a modified herringbone tread designed for hardcourt grip without locking the foot down.
Solase launched through Kickstarter in 2024 and reached full funding with backing from the player community. The name draws inspiration from the word “solace,” reflecting the brand’s focus on comfort and security, while the logo incorporates the Chinese character for “heart,” symbolizing confidence and mindset. The shoes are designed specifically for pickleball, not adapted from other sports, and the development process reflects that from top to bottom.
