How I measured this

Every number in this review is one I measured with my own equipment and instruments. Swing weight on a Briffidi SW1, twist weight on a Briffidi TWA2, static weight on a precision balance scale, serve speed and punch volley speed with a radar gun, spin from a high-speed camera at over 500 frames per second, surface roughness with a stylus roughness tester. It's the same setup for all 628 paddles I've measured.

Swing weight 122.3 · Twist weight 6.9 · Spin 2,270 RPM · Static weight 8.27 oz · Serve speed 60.5 MPH · Punch volley speed 38.8 MPH · Surface roughness 6.39 Ra

If a metric is missing above, this paddle hasn't been through that test yet. Full measurements for the Omni 16mm are on its paddle page. My method is written up on the methodology page, and every paddle I've measured is in the paddle data study.

FAQ

Is the Selkirk Omni worth $300?
It depends on what you're paying for. The Omni's standout trait is that it plays soft on touch shots and stiffens up on full swings, which most foam cores don't do. If you want one paddle that handles resets and drives without feeling like a compromise, that adaptive feel is the reason to pay up. If you mostly play one style, you can get there for less. Code INF-MPB takes some of the sting out of the price.
Which Selkirk pickleball paddle is best?
There's no single best one, it depends on your game. The Omni is the pick if you want all-court versatility from a foam core that adjusts to your swing speed. The Boomstick leans more toward power. Match the paddle to whether you prioritize touch, power, or a blend.
Selkirk Omni or Joola, which should I buy?
They're built differently, which drives the whole decision. Joola's paddles (Perseus, Scorpeus, Hyperion) are thermoformed carbon with honeycomb cores, firm and consistent, with spin and power that show up the same on every shot. The Omni is a foam core that does the opposite: it gives on soft shots and stiffens on full swings. If you want predictable, uniform power and spin, go Joola. If you want a paddle that changes feel based on the shot you're hitting, that's the Omni's whole pitch and Joola doesn't have an answer to it.
What's the difference between the Omni elongated and widebody?
Shape and forgiveness. The elongated 16mm (8.27 oz) gives you more reach and leverage on drives and serves, with a tighter sweet spot. The widebody trades some reach for a larger, more forgiving face, which helps off-center contact. Aggressive players who hit the middle of the paddle consistently usually prefer the elongated; players who want margin for error lean widebody.
What core does the Selkirk Omni use?
Selkirk calls it ReactCore, a three-layer foam build. The center is a floating EPP foam core that isn't bonded to the surrounding ring, wrapped by a second foam ring, with an EVA Power Ring around the perimeter. That layered, unbonded construction is what lets the paddle feel soft at low impact speeds and stiffen up on full swings.
